What we do

What is a dry riser?

A  dry riser is a system of valves and pipework which the
fire brigade use to pump water to the  upper floors of a building.
A dry riser system can be found in premises of 18 metres
and above, or in low level buildings where there are excessive HEAD2
distances from entrances (60m).

Testing

Buildings which have dry risers must comply with the new
British Standard BS 9990:2006, should be visually inspected
every six months and pressure tested annually.  The responsibility
of ensuring that this test is completed belongs either to the
owner of the premises, or Facilities Management Company.
